Abstract

Endophytic fungi, microorganisms living within plant tissues without causing harm, show great potential as bio-control agents against soil-borne pathogens. These fungi form mutualistic relationships with plants, enhancing nutrient uptake, promoting growth, and protecting against diseases. They produce antifungal metabolites, induce systemic resistance, and compete with pathogens for nutrients. The article delves into the classification, diversity, and mechanisms of endophytic fungi, emphasizing their role in sustainable agriculture and the challenges in their practical application. It also discusses the potential of these fungi in enhancing plant tolerance to abiotic stresses and improving crop yields, making it a valuable resource for researchers and practitioners in plant science and agriculture.
