Abstract

The study investigates how endophytic symbiosis can enhance the growth, yield, and antioxidant defense of soybean plants exposed to various light intensities. Climate change, particularly the decrease in solar radiation, poses significant challenges to crop productivity. The research demonstrates that endophytic fungi, such as Bjerkandera adusta and Chaetomium globosum, can mitigate the adverse effects of shading on soybean plants. These fungi improve plant height, shoot fresh and dry weights, and pod length, even under reduced light conditions. Furthermore, the fungi enhance the activity of antioxidant enzymes like superoxide dismutase, catalase, and peroxidase, as well as proline content, which helps plants cope with oxidative stress. The findings suggest that endophytic symbiosis can be a valuable strategy for improving soybean cultivation in areas with low light intensity, offering a promising approach to sustainable agriculture.
