Abstract

The article discusses the challenges and opportunities of distance education, particularly live online classes (LOCs), during the Covid-19 pandemic. It emphasizes the need for a validated scale to measure student engagement in LOCs, focusing on cognitive, affective, and behavioral dimensions. The study outlines the theoretical structure of student engagement, including factors like presence, interaction, and motivation. It also details the methodology used to develop and validate the Live Online Classes Engagement Scale (LOCES), highlighting the importance of this tool for practitioners and researchers in enhancing student engagement and learning performance.
