This study delves into the impact of narrative elements on the experience of solving logic grid puzzles, a popular form of pen-and-paper puzzle. By examining three different narrative modes—base clue, paragraph, and interactive fiction—the research explores how increased narrative interaction affects gameplay difficulty, enjoyment, and narrative quality. The study compares the performance and preferences of two distinct groups: paid crowd-workers from the Prolific platform and volunteers from social media forums.
