Abstract

The article delves into the transformative potential of Virtual Reality (VR) in enhancing English vocabulary acquisition among senior learners, a demographic increasingly important due to global aging trends. It examines the Shulin Public Market VR Guiding System, revealing significant improvements in vocabulary retention and engagement, particularly among female participants. The study highlights how VR can overcome traditional learning barriers, such as mobility issues, by providing immersive, real-world-like environments. Gender differences in learning outcomes are explored, suggesting that content relevance and cultural familiarity play crucial roles. The research also uncovers challenges, including technical difficulties and the need for real-time guidance, offering insights into how VR systems can be optimized for older learners. By integrating qualitative feedback, the article provides a holistic view of VR's benefits and limitations, making a compelling case for its integration into educational practices for the elderly.
