Abstract

The chapter explores the limitations of current touch screen technologies in industrial settings, highlighting the need for improved durability and precision. It introduces a hybrid solution that combines resistive and optical touch screen technologies to overcome these challenges. The proposed system leverages the advantages of both technologies, providing enhanced multi-touch functionality and resistance to environmental factors. The chapter details the design and implementation of the hybrid touch screen, including a simulation model and a prototype demonstration. It also discusses the algorithmic workflow and self-calibration capabilities of the system. The chapter concludes with a demonstration of the multi-touch functionality and the overall performance of the hybrid solution.
