Abstract

Blind image deblurring remains a critical challenge in the field of computer vision and image processing, where the goal is to restore a clear image from a blurred one without prior knowledge of the blur kernel. This article presents a groundbreaking approach to this problem through the introduction of the Enhanced Patch-wise Maximal Gradient (EPMG) prior. By leveraging both intensity and gradient information within non-overlapping image patches, the EPMG prior addresses the limitations of existing methods that rely on single-type information. The article delves into the mathematical formulation and statistical validation of the EPMG prior, showcasing its effectiveness through rigorous experiments on benchmark datasets and real-world images. The proposed method not only achieves superior deblurring performance but also significantly reduces computational time, making it a robust solution for various deblurring tasks. Additionally, the article provides a detailed comparison with state-of-the-art optimization-based and deep learning-based methods, highlighting the advantages of the EPMG prior in terms of accuracy and efficiency.
