Abstract

The article presents a detailed study on enhancing the thermoelectric performance of p-type AgBiSe2 through carrier concentration optimization and valence band modification. By doping Cd at the Bi site, the hole concentration increases significantly, leading to improved electrical conductivity and power factor. First-principles calculations reveal that Cd doping flattens the valence band, increasing the density-of-states effective mass and Seebeck coefficient. Additionally, dislocations induced by Cd doping contribute to ultralow lattice thermal conductivity, further enhancing the overall thermoelectric performance. The study highlights the potential of Cd doping in achieving high zT values in p-type AgBiSe2, making it a promising material for thermoelectric applications.
