Abstract

The article explores the critical role of energy efficiency in Ghana's residential sector, which accounts for nearly half of the country's total final energy use. It examines the impact of energy efficiency policies on household appliances, particularly refrigerators and air conditioners, which are significant contributors to energy consumption. The study evaluates the effectiveness of these policies in reducing energy consumption, financial savings, and carbon emissions, providing a detailed analysis of the implementation and outcomes of energy efficiency labeling and minimum energy performance standards. The research also highlights the challenges faced in enforcing these policies, including financial, technical, and political barriers, and discusses innovative solutions to overcome these limitations. Furthermore, the article presents a comparative analysis of energy efficiency impact measures, offering insights into the most effective models for evaluating energy savings and carbon emission reductions. The findings underscore the importance of continuous policy evaluation and adaptation to achieve sustainable energy goals and contribute to global efforts in combating climate change.
