Abstract

The study focuses on enhancing the tribological performance of MoS coatings in humid environments by incorporating BiS. It delves into the challenges posed by humidity on MoS lubricants and introduces BiS as a promising additive due to its unique crystal structure and low toxicity. The authors employ a simple spraying technique to create coatings with varying BiS-to-MoS ratios and conduct tribological tests under different humidity levels. Results show that the composite coatings significantly reduce friction and increase durability, with the 50% BiS-50% MoS formulation exhibiting the best performance. The study also analyzes wear surfaces and tribofilm formation, providing insights into the mechanisms behind the improved performance. This research offers a practical solution for enhancing the effectiveness of MoS coatings in humid conditions, making it a valuable read for professionals in materials science and tribology.
