Abstract

The chapter discusses the growing trend of senior entrepreneurship in Europe, driven by an ageing population and the need to challenge negative stereotypes about older adults. It examines the motivations and barriers faced by senior entrepreneurs, highlighting the unique advantages they bring to the social economy. Through case studies from Spain, Finland, Slovakia, and Portugal, the chapter illustrates how senior entrepreneurs are creating innovative solutions, addressing social issues, and contributing to economic growth. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on these initiatives is also explored, showcasing the resilience and adaptability of senior entrepreneurs.
