Abstract

This study explores the environmental factors influencing quinoa germination, focusing on salinity and temperature stress. It evaluates the germination rate, seedling length, and fresh weight of five quinoa genotypes under varying conditions. The research highlights the significant impact of combined salinity and temperature stress on germination performance, with notable genotypic differences. Atlas and 2-Want genotypes show superior tolerance, while Q4 Bis and Bear Canyon are more sensitive. The study employs both conventional statistical analyses and machine learning models, specifically Random Forest, to predict germination traits accurately. The results underscore the importance of temperature and salinity as primary drivers of germination, with genotypic factors playing a secondary role. This integrated approach provides valuable insights for breeding and cultivating quinoa in challenging environmental conditions, offering a robust framework for developing resilient cultivars.
