Abstract

The article evaluates a mobility-aware Adaptive Data Rate (ADR) scheme in urban and suburban LoRaWAN environments. It introduces a statistical method to better estimate the link budget and adapt to changing conditions, improving reliability and maintaining energy efficiency in mobile scenarios. The study compares the proposed scheme, P-ADR, with existing ADR mechanisms such as ADR+, M-ADR, and the standard ADR. Simulations in NS-3 with realistic application scenarios showcase P-ADR's superior performance in terms of Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), energy consumption, and latency. The results highlight P-ADR's ability to adapt effectively to varying channel conditions, making it a viable solution for enhancing LoRaWAN network performance in mobile IoT applications.
