Abstract

This chapter delves into the evaluation of factors affecting the feasibility of trigeneration systems for enhancing energy efficiency in hospitals. It begins with an introduction to various energy types and sources, emphasizing the importance of sustainable energy management in hospitals due to their continuous 24/7 operations. The literature review highlights the significance of energy efficiency in hospitals and the potential of trigeneration systems to meet heating, cooling, and electricity needs from a single source. Key factors influencing the feasibility of these systems are identified, including location, economic situation, technical knowledge, energy type, and building structure. The study employs the DEMATEL method to determine the most critical factors, with energy type emerging as the most influential. The findings suggest that focusing on research and development, technical knowledge, and economic considerations can optimize the implementation of trigeneration systems in hospitals. The chapter concludes with recommendations for future studies on clean and alternative energy sources specific to hospitals.
