Abstract

The article investigates the feasibility of using granite waste powder (GWP) as a lightweight admixture in oil-well cement slurry, aiming to reduce cement slurry density and enhance mechanical properties. The study also examines the effect of expanded perlite on the strength development of GWP-based recipes. Through a series of screening tests and final formulations, the authors demonstrate that GWP acts as both a filler and a slow-reacting pozzolan, while perlite enhances early-age strength due to its high reactivity. The synergistic effect of GWP and perlite results in cement systems with superior mechanical properties and favorable rheological behavior, making them viable for oil-well cementing applications. The findings contribute to the sustainable use of waste materials in the oil and gas industry and offer an alternative to traditional cement extenders.
