Abstract

The study focuses on the evaluation of graphene oxide-coated sand (GOS) for the adsorption of ammonium, lead, and fulvic acid from municipal solid waste leachate. Molecular dynamics simulation and spectral induced polarization (SIP) are employed to investigate the adsorption mechanisms and efficacy of GOS. The research highlights the superior adsorption capacity of GOS for lead and the complex interactions between contaminants and the adsorbent surface. The SIP method provides real-time monitoring of the adsorption process, while molecular dynamics simulation offers insights into the nanoscale interactions. The findings suggest promising applications for GOS in remediating groundwater contamination, particularly for lead removal. The study also identifies areas for further improvement, such as enhancing the adsorption of ammonium and fulvic acid through optimized composite materials and conditions.
