Abstract

The chapter focuses on evaluating the impacts of phased excavation of shield tunnels on adjacent piled-raft foundations, a critical issue in high-density urban areas. It employs a 3D finite element model to simulate soil-structure interactions and predict ground movements and structural responses. The study analyzes the effects of tunnel face pressure and grout pressure on ground settlement and pile lateral displacement at different phases of excavation. Polynomial regression models are developed to predict these responses accurately, highlighting the strong influence of tunnel pressures on ground deformations. The research provides valuable insights into mitigating risks and predicting ground deformations caused by tunneling, making it a crucial read for professionals in the field.
