Abstract

This chapter delves into the optimization of deep spiking neural networks (SNNs) using the Tree-structured Parzen Estimator (TPE) algorithm, focusing on key hyperparameters like the learning rate and membrane time constant. The study evaluates the performance of TPE-optimized SNNs on three event datasets: the Shape Event Dataset (SED), CIFAR10-DVS, and DVS Gesture 128. The experimental results showcase significant improvements in network accuracy, achieving 97.95% on SED, 76.03% on CIFAR10-DVS, and 96.87% on DVS Gesture 128. The chapter also compares these results with state-of-the-art techniques, highlighting the superior performance of the TPE algorithm. Additionally, it explores the potential of TPE in optimizing SNNs and discusses future research directions. The detailed analysis and experimental validation make this chapter a compelling read for professionals seeking to enhance their understanding of neuromorphic computing and optimization techniques.
