Abstract

The article investigates the evolution of Al–Ti oxide inclusions in Fe-based alloys during thermal holding, leveraging a novel inductive separation method. The study focuses on the morphological and compositional changes in Al–Ti oxide inclusions at different holding times and temperatures, revealing the phase transformation from a homogeneous to a heterogeneous phase. The findings highlight the impact of temperature on the supersaturation degree of Al2O3 in the oxide, influencing the precipitation and coarsening of Al2O3. The research challenges traditional views on the stability of Ti-bearing oxides and proposes optimizing thermal holding processes to modify oxide inclusions for enhanced microstructural properties, such as the induction of intragranular acicular ferrite (IAF) microstructure.
