Abstract

The article investigates the evolution of structure and properties in iron-carbon alloys produced through aluminothermy, focusing on the differentiation of fractional compositions in charge materials. It begins by emphasizing the importance of energy-efficient and sustainable technologies in modern industrial production, setting the stage for the exploration of aluminothermy as a promising method. The study reveals that the bulk density of thermite mixtures is significantly influenced by the fractional composition of the reducing agent, with finer particles enhancing density and reaction rates. The chemical composition of the resulting alloys, including key elements like carbon, manganese, silicon, and aluminum, is intricately linked to the fractional compositions of the raw materials. The structural analysis of the alloys shows a variety of microstructures, from ferrite-pearlite matrices to martensitic structures, depending on the fractional compositions used. The article also discusses the impact of homogenizing annealing on refining these structures, highlighting its potential to improve the mechanical properties of the alloys. The findings underscore the feasibility of controlling the properties of aluminothermic alloys through careful selection of fractional compositions, paving the way for the production of high-quality, defect-free castings suitable for various applications.
