Examination of Pellets Made from Concentrate of Oxidized Ferruginous Quartzites of Mikhailovsky GOK

The study focuses on the complex and diverse ores of the Mikhailovsky Deposit, with a particular emphasis on oxidized ferruginous quartzites (OFQ). Despite previous attempts to utilize OFQ concentrates, no effective processing technology has been developed. This research aims to evaluate the potential of producing high-quality pellets from OFQ concentrates, examining their mineralogical composition, particle-size distribution, and the effectiveness of polymeric binders and solid fuels. The article presents detailed experimental data on the production and heat treatment of pellets, as well as mathematical modeling to optimize the firing process. The findings indicate that producing pellets from OFQ concentrates is feasible and could provide an environmentally friendly solution for disposing of mill tailings. The study also highlights the need for further cost analysis and industrial testing to implement this technology effectively.
