Abstract

The study focuses on the hydrothermal coating of Al6013 alloy with a composite material consisting of graphene, fly ash, and expanded perlite. The researchers employed SEM, EDX, microhardness, and surface roughness measurements to evaluate the coating's effectiveness. Notably, the increase in reinforcement ratios of fly ash and expanded perlite led to enhanced microhardness values, with the highest hardness observed in the specimen reinforced with 30% expanded perlite. The coating thickness varied with the reinforcement ratios, showing an initial increase followed by a decrease in fly ash-reinforced specimens and a consistent increase in those reinforced with expanded perlite. The use of waste materials in the coating process highlights the potential for cost-effective and environmentally sustainable composite production.
