Abstract

The study investigates the microstructural changes in HDPE nanocomposites filled with α-alumina nanoparticles, using techniques such as X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscopy, and positron annihilation spectroscopy. The addition of alumina nanoparticles affects the crystalline structure and surface roughness of the HDPE, with positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy revealing changes in the material's free volume and defects. The low energy positron beam analysis provides further insights into the cavity size and layer structure, highlighting the influence of alumina concentration on the material's mechanical properties. The results offer valuable insights into enhancing the performance of HDPE polymers through the incorporation of metal oxide nanoparticles.
