Abstract

This study delves into the intricate relationships between environmental knowledge, risk perception, and concern, and their collective influence on sustainable consumption behaviour, with a particular focus on Indonesia. It employs the Stimulus-Organism-Response (SOR) theory to understand these dynamics, highlighting the unique context of Indonesia, which differs significantly from developed countries. The research finds that environmental knowledge positively influences environmental risk perception and concern, but not sustainable consumption behaviour directly. Environmental concern, however, does have a significant impact on sustainable consumption behaviour. Moreover, environmental concern mediates the influence of environmental knowledge and risk perception on sustainable consumption behaviour. These findings offer critical insights for policymakers and businesses aiming to promote sustainable consumption practices in Indonesia. The study also contributes to the theoretical understanding of these relationships, providing a foundation for future research in environmental psychology and consumer behaviour.
