Abstract

The article investigates the crystal structures and solute carbon content of tempered Fe-0.6C-1Mn martensite, focusing on the impact of silicon addition. It highlights the mechanisms of strain release, carbide precipitation, and the correlation between tetragonality and solute carbon. The study reveals that silicon inhibits the loss of tetragonality and retains a higher amount of solute carbon during tempering, offering valuable insights into the tempering behavior of martensitic steels.
