Although the preferences of different cultures are important in the design of an interior, they tend to become blurred when it comes to the aspect of quality of life. This is the result of globalization. In the ATZ interview, Han Hendriks and Tim Shih answer questions about the newly formed business unit Yanfeng Technology, as well as the advantages of the new XiM20 concept study for level-5 autonomous driving, and how the scent of pine trees can be digitally changed into that of strawberries.
Tim Shih, B. E. D. B. Sc., (born in 1972) has been Vice President Design and User Experience at Yanfeng Technology since September 1, 2019, where he is responsible for design strategy, future concepts, and the global Design Team at the three studio locations in China, Germany, and the USA. He began his career in 1998 at Volvo Trucks North America as an industrial designer. In 2000, he moved to Johnson Controls as Senior Designer, with postings in Japan and Germany. In 2006, he joined BMW Group. Initially appointed as Automotive Designer for Interiors in Germany, he quickly advanced to become Zinoro Head of Interior Design and then to Senior Manager Design for BMW-Brilliance Automotive in Shanghai (China). His most recent position was Vice President Design at YFAI since 2017.
