Abstract

The study explores the fire extinguishing efficacy of FK-5-1-12 on lithium-ion batteries undergoing thermal runaway in a full-size battery box. Experiments reveal that FK-5-1-12 can extinguish fires within 3-5 seconds and prevent reignition for 10 minutes. The fire extinguishing agent also significantly reduces the maximum battery surface temperature and cooling time. The research highlights the potential of FK-5-1-12 in mitigating battery fires, although further studies are needed for batteries with higher energy densities.
