This paper focuses on the experimental investigation of transient pressure fluctuations and the magnitude of the pressure amplitudes in the side chambers of a pump turbine model. This knowledge should be used to quantify the effects in relation to other fluctuations as well as to validate analytical approaches, which are used as boundary conditions for CFD and FEM simulations. Therefore, steady and unsteady pressure measurements were performed on a homologue reduced scale model of a radial pump turbine at the TU Wien. …
