Experimental Investigation on Uniaxial Compressive Responses of Grouted Rock-Like Material

Abstract

The grouting rate and pre-damage degree of grouted rock mass always influence its macro-mechanical properties. In this paper, a series of experimental uniaxial compression tests of cubic rock-like specimens were conducted to investigate the influencing law of the grouting rate and pre-damage degree on the mechanical behaviors and failure characteristics of a grouted rock mass. The results show that the failure pattern of the grouted specimens is mainly dominated by splitting failure and the increasing grouting rate enhances the load-bearing performance and decreases the failure extent of the specimens. The peak strength values decrease with the increasing pre-damage degree of the specimens, and the relationship is approximately linear. Unlike the peak strength, the elastic modulus values form a parabola that increases with the increase of the pre-damage degree. The grouted specimens with a small pre-damage degree have little fracture propagation and better integrity. It is illustrated that an increased pre-damage degree of the grouted specimens causes more fissures. Fissures provide more space for grouting, and the increase in cement grout improves the rigidity of the specimens.
