Abstract

The study focuses on the complex flow dynamics over aircraft slats, which generate high levels of flow unsteadiness and pressure waves. The authors investigate the discrete strong-amplitude tones in the mid-frequency range, which exhibit characteristics similar to Rossiter modes. The article delves into the switching process of these strong-amplitude modes, capturing the intermittent behavior through continuous wavelet transform and time-domain beamforming. The use of MEMS microphones integrated with FPCB allows for near-flush mounting on the slat cove, enabling precise measurement of wall-pressure fluctuations. The results reveal the temporal switching of dominant modes and the correlation between flow field structures and acoustic characteristics. The study highlights the importance of understanding the underlying flow dynamics for better noise control and aerodynamic performance in aircraft designs.
