Abstract

The article delves into the development of temperature-regulated spray-bonded cotton using eutectic dual-network phase transition microspheres. It introduces a method to encapsulate phase change materials (PCMs) within a dual-network polymer system, specifically using polyethylene glycol (PEG) and a dual-network of polyacrylamide (PAM) and calcium alginate (CA). The study demonstrates that this encapsulation method significantly enhances the thermal management properties of the cotton material. The resulting temperature-regulated spray-bonded cotton (TRSBC) shows improved temperature buffering, with a maximum temperature difference of up to 23.5°C during heating and 16.3°C during cooling. This innovative approach holds promise for applications in high-tech textiles, clothing, and construction materials, offering a sustainable and energy-efficient solution for thermal comfort.
