Abstract

In an era where project environments are increasingly complex and uncertain, traditional control and risk management strategies often fall short. This chapter explores how human-robot collaboration, driven by digital technologies like artificial intelligence, can significantly enhance project team resilience. By integrating AI into construction tasks such as production, quality, and safety, teams can achieve a tighter coupling of human soft skills and robotic hard skills, enabling them to tackle more intricate collaborative tasks. The availability of big data further empowers decision-making, allowing teams to build resilience through resource complementarity and optimized decision efficiencies. The chapter delves into the mediating effects of resource acquisition, revealing how human-robot collaboration can indirectly bolster team resilience by facilitating the acquisition of critical external resources. Additionally, it examines the moderating role of human-robot trust, demonstrating how higher levels of trust amplify the positive impact of collaboration on team resilience. Through empirical testing and theoretical modeling, the chapter provides a nuanced understanding of how AI-driven human-robot collaboration can transform project governance and smart construction, paving the way for more resilient and adaptable project teams.
