Abstract

The article explores the synthesis of Fe3O4 nanoparticles at room temperature using a coprecipitation method, coated with meso-2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) to enhance biocompatibility. The study compares this method with traditional aqueous and nonaqueous routes, highlighting the advantages of DMSA coating in stabilizing nanoparticles and reducing toxicity. The synthesized nanoparticles exhibit excellent superparamagnetic behavior and are tested for biocompatibility using human colorectal carcinoma cells. The results demonstrate the potential of these nanoparticles for biomedical applications, including magnetic hyperthermia treatment.
