A way of fast 3D modeling and deformation driven by 2D template is presented to realize fast conceptual design and avoid some defects of reconstructing 3D models from 2D sketches, such as irregular sketched contour and immature sketch recognition techniques. The fish entity is taken as an example for experiments. According to the shape characters of various fishes, a 2D fish contour was drawn with Bessel curves and some control points were set in 2D template to modulate various parts of the size, shape and location of the fish. The experiment results show that this method can create various 3D fish models rapidly and improve the digital display of special necessities for ethnic minorities significantly.
