Abstract

The article explores the integration of solar photovoltaic (SPV) systems with hybrid energy storage (HES) in DC microgrids using a shunt-connected multi-functional converter (SCMFC). It highlights the challenges posed by intermittent SPV power generation and proposes a finite control set-model predictive control (FCS-MPC) strategy to manage power flow effectively. The research demonstrates the superior performance of FCS-MPC in handling dynamic operational scenarios, ensuring stable and efficient operation of the microgrid. The study is validated through MATLAB/Simulink simulations and real-time testing, showcasing the potential of FCS-MPC in enhancing the reliability and flexibility of microgrids.
