Abstract

The article delves into the crucial role of tunnels in modern infrastructure and the urgent need for their safety against terrorism. It highlights the vulnerability of underground structures to dynamic loading, focusing on the impact of blast attacks. The study emphasizes the scarcity of research on the effects of impact loading on tunnels, particularly those constructed in fractured and weathered rockmass. The authors use finite element analysis to simulate the damage behavior of shallow tunnels under impact loading, considering various tunnel diameters, overburden depths, and rock weathering stages. The validation of the numerical model against experimental data underscores the reliability of the findings. The research provides valuable insights into the deformation behavior of tunnels under dynamic loading, contributing to the design of safer and more economical underground structures.
