Abstract

This study investigates the dynamic link between financial inclusion and energy transition across OECD countries from 2004 to 2023, focusing on the moderating effects of environmental policy stringency and global uncertainty. The research highlights the pivotal role of financial inclusion in accelerating the energy transition by improving access to financial resources for renewable energy investments and energy-efficient technologies. It also underscores the positive moderating role of environmental policy stringency in strengthening the relationship between financial inclusion and energy transition. Conversely, the study reveals that global uncertainty significantly dampens this relationship, indicating that heightened uncertainty discourages long-term green investments. The findings suggest that policymakers should prioritize initiatives that enhance financial inclusion, maintain strong environmental regulations, and develop risk-sharing mechanisms to sustain energy transition efforts. The study employs a combination of static and dynamic estimation techniques, including FMOLS, DOLS, and System GMM, to address potential endogeneity and heterogeneity concerns, providing a robust analysis of the interplay between financial inclusion, policy stringency, and global uncertainty in driving energy transition in advanced economies.
