Abstract

The chapter delves into the critical issue of ensuring reliable power supply for distributed wireless sensors in the advancing Internet of Things (IoT) technology. It highlights the potential of electromagnetic vibration energy harvesting (EVEH) systems, which offer high output power and reliability, particularly in industrial settings with abundant vibrational energy. The core focus is on the necessity to match the resonant frequency of EVEH systems with the varying environmental vibration frequencies to maximize energy output. The text critically evaluates existing solutions, such as broadband operation and adjustable resonant frequency designs, noting their limitations in achieving precise frequency fine-tuning. The chapter introduces a novel design featuring a detachable suspension arm that allows for fine-tuning the resonant frequency of the EVEH system. This design is supported by detailed theoretical models, simulations using COMSOL, and experimental validations. The proposed method demonstrates significant improvements in output power and voltage, adapting effectively to external frequency disturbances. The conclusions underscore the potential of vibration electromagnetic energy harvesting as a power source for future low-power devices, emphasizing the urgency of resonant frequency adjustment in real-world applications.
