Zusammenfassung

Die Digitalisierung hat in vielen Branchen die Entwicklung neuer, oft disruptiver Geschäftsmodelle ermöglicht. Bekannte Beispiele hierfür sind der Handel, die Telekommunikationsbranche sowie die Musik- und Filmindustrie. Der Bankensektor konnte sich der Digitalisierung mit Ausnahme der Einführung des Online-Bankings lange Zeit weitgehend entziehen. In jüngster Zeit treten jedoch verstärk neue Wettbewerber, sog. FinTech-Unternehmen, in den Markt ein, die durch technologische Neuerungen und Digitalisierung potenziell disruptive Geschäftsmodelle offerieren. Der vorliegende Beitrag fasst den gegenwärtigen Stand der digitalen Transformation des Bankensektors vor dem theoretischen Hintergrund der disruptiven Innovationen zusammen.
