Abstract

This chapter delves into the increasing use of robots equipped with artificial intelligence for various tasks, highlighting the challenges of data processing and energy consumption. It introduces a high-level architecture of robots and discusses the advantages of deploying robotic applications on Fog Computing platforms. The main focus is on the Fog-Robotics Infrastructures Simulation-Based Sizing Approach (FRISSA), which estimates resource requirements to minimize activity duration and financial cost. The approach is validated through a case study involving the Reachy robot, demonstrating the effectiveness of FRISSA in optimizing resource utilization for long-term robotics activities. The chapter also discusses the mathematical proofs and practical applications of the FRISSA algorithm, making it a valuable resource for professionals seeking to optimize robotic applications in distributed environments.
