Abstract

The study focuses on the effects of forest loss and increased edge density on dung beetle assemblages in the Tropical Atlantic Forest. It highlights the importance of these beetles in ecological functions such as dung removal and secondary seed dispersal. The research shows that landscape modifications lead to a reduction in species richness, abundance, and functional diversity, with significant impacts on the tunnelers and rollers functional groups. The article also discusses the implications of these changes on ecosystem services and the need for conservation strategies to mitigate the effects of habitat loss and fragmentation.
