Abstract

The chapter explores the innovative design and installation of a free-form aluminum grid shell for the Avenue Mall in Dubai, highlighting the use of bolted joints and parametric modeling. The shell, with dimensions of 55m x 50m and a maximum elevation of +25m, is designed to maximize horizontal transparency and create an open space effect. The project's complexity lies in the varying working conditions of its elements, influenced by the shell's geometric shape and wind loads. To address this, different aluminum sections are used, with larger sections in supporting areas and smaller ones in spans.
