In this first chapter you will be introduced to the basic structure of a C++ program and we will be looking at the various elements which go to make up such a program. Much of the content of this chapter will be familiar to you if you have already delved a little into C. However there are important elements in this chapter which are C++ specific, so even if you are a competent C programmer you should still read through these notes and try out the exercises.
