This edited volume on Constitutional Politics in Central and Eastern Europe aims to fill an obvious gap in political sciences and comparative constitutional studies. After the collapse of communism, there was an enormous scientific interest in the transition of the former Eastern bloc. After a decade this awareness somehow faded away, and there came up a wide-spread assumption that these countries are being part of the transatlantic integration becoming consolidated democracies, and hence they do not differ too much from their Western counterparts. This belief has always been an oversimplification, and therefore the idea of the editors is more than welcome to dig into the realities of constitutional politics in Central and Eastern Europe. The volume encompasses 20 country studies, in doing so it goes beyond the usual suspects, and gives a broad overview of this region. Merely the fact that all Central and Eastern Europe countries are portrayed makes this volume a worthwhile reading. One cannot remember when such a comprehensive collection was published about this region. …
