The number of automotive security issues that were published recently is growing, for a number of reasons. First, cars are being equipped with a rising number of convenience and infotainment systems. This increases the size and complexity of the vehicles’ software. A recommendable strategy is to learn from methods of functional safety. Here a rule set already exists which has proven in practice. Procedures can be derived from that, with the objective to discover and handle threats appropriately, as c4c engineering introduces. …
