Abstract

The chapter delves into the advanced techniques of biometric identification using palmprint images. It discusses the rich texture and distinctive features of palmprints that make them suitable for high-accuracy identification. Traditional unimodal biometric methods are limited, leading to the development of multimodal techniques that combine multiple biometric traits. The proposed method focuses on fusing left and right palmprint images at the matching score level, highlighting the similarities between them to enhance identification accuracy. The chapter presents a detailed methodology, including preprocessing steps, score-level fusion, and a comparison with existing methods, showcasing the superior performance of the proposed technique in terms of accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the fusion method in improving biometric identification systems, making it a valuable resource for professionals in the field.
