An Improved Strain-Softening Damage Model of Rocks Considering Compaction Nonlinearity and Residual Stress Under Uniaxial Condition

To reflect the influence of saturation effect, an improved strain-softening damage model is established to link the saturated rocks with the dry rocks. First, the original damage model is improved to describe the characteristics of each stage in …

ANN Model Development for Air Permeability in Biochar Amended Unsaturated Soil

Passage of municipal waste induced greenhouse gases such as carbon di oxide (CO2) and methane in landfill covers, majorly depends on the state of unsaturation and compaction of soil biochar composite (SBC). The unsaturated state of SBC can be …

Effects of Internal Erosion on Parameters of Subloading Cam-Clay Model

Internal erosion is widely detected in both natural deposits and earthen structures and potentially causes severe disasters. Suffusion is one of the modes of internal erosion in which fine particles in the soil are washed out along with water flow …

Investigating the Effect of a New Industrial Waste on Strengthening the Soft Clayey Soil

The use of waste materials of industries to protect the environment and save the economy has always been significant to humankind. In this research, in order to stabilize and improve soft clay soils, we tried to investigate the possibility of …

Influence of Rice Husk Ash on the Swelling and Strength Characteristics of Expansive Soil

Black cotton soils are expansive soils which exhibit high swelling and shrinking when exposed to changes in moisture content. Durability of structure resting on expansive clays is always in question due to swelling/shrinkage of such clays. The …

About this journal

Geotechnical and Geological Engineering publishes papers in the areas of soil and rock engineering and also of geology as applied in the civil engineering, mining and petroleum industries. The emphasis is on the engineering aspects of soil and rock mechanics, geology and hydrogeology, although papers on theoretical and experimental advances in ground mechanics are also welcomed for inclusion.

The journal encompasses a broad spectrum of geo-engineering although several areas have been identified which will be given particular priority:

Soil and rock engineering;

Foundation engineering;

Applied geology for design and construction;

Geo-environmental engineering;

Earthquake engineering and dynamic behavior of soils and rocks;

Geohazards and mitigation;

Mining engineering;

Geotechnical aspects of petroleum engineering;

Information technology applications in geo-engineering;

Novel geotechnical construction techniques;

Case histories describing important geo-engineering projects.

Geotechnical and Geological Engineering publishes contributions in the form of original and review papers, or as short technical notes. A Book Review section informs the discerning reader of the type and quality of literature available to the geotechnical engineer and engineering geologist.
