Zusammenfassung

Der globale Geothermiesektor wuchs in den letzten Jahren kontinuierlich und beständig. Geothermieressourcen werden in 78 Ländern genutzt, sowohl direkt als Wärmelieferant für landwirtschaftliche und industrielle Prozesse, balneologische Anwendungen, Wärme‐ und Kälteversorgung als auch zur Stromerzeugung. Die fünf Länder mit der höchsten installierten Kapazität sind die USA, China, Schweden, Norwegen und Deutschland. Regionen mit erhöhten Wachstumstrends liegen in Zentral‐ und Südamerika, vor allem in Ländern der Andenkordillere, in Ländern entlang des ostafrikanischen Rifts (Kenia, Äthiopien, Tansania, Ruanda) und in den bekannten asiatischen Geothermieländern wie Indonesien, Philippinen und Japan.
