Abstract

The chapter delves into the importance of greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting for manufacturers, driven by the European Union's climate neutrality goals. It outlines the three scopes of GHG emissions and the challenges of reporting, particularly for the manufacturing industry. A practical approach to GHG accounting is presented, including a case study of an industrial gear manufacturer. The study highlights the significant emissions from the supply chain and the need for detailed guidelines and industry cooperation to meet upcoming reporting standards.
