Abstract

This chapter explores the application of Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) combined with Principal Component Analysis (PCA) for feature selection and dimensionality reduction in high-dimensional datasets. The study evaluates the performance of the proposed method using K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifiers, demonstrating improved classification accuracy and reduced computational complexity. The research compares the proposed GWO method with eight existing feature selection techniques, highlighting its superior performance in most datasets. The study also discusses the impact of dimensionality reduction on classification performance and computational efficiency, providing insights into the practical significance of GWO in preprocessing high-dimensional data. The results indicate that GWO can significantly reduce the number of features, often by a factor of ten or greater, enhancing both computational efficiency and classification performance.
